So, I go in phases with using Pinterest. Currently, I am in a Pinterest phase, and I am quite inspired to create. It all started when I finally found some fabric to make a valance for my office window. Let me be clear, I will not be making this valance. I am leaving that up to my mom, because I have no skills with a sewing machine. Regardless, it has inspired me to get back to sprucing up the office (a space I share with the cat).
This space is quite small, leaving little room for places to store stuff. I have found myself piling things up on my desk, because there is no space left to store folders. Finding this idea on Pinterest helped solve all my problems.
I created these hanging file folders for use in my office.
I followed directions 1 and 3 from the link provided above. After that point, I used a few modifications. First, I took paper and covered the original folder. Being unable to find folders in the colors I wanted, I just created my own. I did not glue my folders together. I just used the grommets to secure the folders together. I placed a grommet through the folders I was joining together and a grommet in the ribbon I was using. I then laced a different ribbon through all the grommets to allow the folders to hang.
I purchased the ribbon first, so it is really too dark for the paper that I chose. If I could go back, I would probably buy a lighter color ribbon or use a darker brown for the tops of the folders. I am trying to come up with a way to bring that darker brown into it with a little more significance to tie it all together. Not sure where that will lead.
Other than that, I love this method for opening up storage for important papers!

Wishing for Spring
Woke up this morning to a little snow in the front yard. This was actually the most snow we have had all winter. The problem is that it is the second day of Spring. At this point, I am wishing for warmer weather to stick around. My desire for Spring really inspired me to make some cards for Easter.
I have stayed away from my Cricut these days. Not because I don't love my Cricut, but because I have oodles of stickers. I have been trying to break my habit of purchasing stuff if I don't have a plan for it. The easiest way to do this is to stay away from craft stores.
I created these simple cards by cutting 1x1 inch patterned paper and matting on 1.5x1.5 inch textured card stock. I spaced 6 evenly on the card background and used one of the larger squares to mount a sticker in the center.
This was a quick and easy way to create cards and use some of those stickers.

Disney
We will be taking my niece to Disney for her 5th birthday. It will be a surprise, and I was trying to devise a way to give her a gift to open. I was able to use two Cricut cartridges to create this large card with the big reveal. The cartridges used are Dreams Come True and Mickey & Friends.
I used the line "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast on the front of the card along with an image of the two characters.
This part took me a long time to put together. I have never used such an intricate cut from the Cricut before, so it took quite a while to assemble.
The inside cover provides more hints as to where our destination might be....

Fortunately, these were much easier to assemble.
I have also booked breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table on one of our days at Disney. I read online about someone who gave a child an invitation as if it were from Cinderella. Of course, I had to do the same. I kept it really simple and used some stickers I had on hand.
I plan on printing the inside of the card inviting my niece to the castle for breakfast. Not sure who will be more excited about this portion of the trip!

Spring Cleaning
Spring Break has been really low key this year. There has been no where to go and no real schedule which has been quite enjoyable. I did take some time to do some spring cleaning of my scrap room. These cards are all made using scraps from the scrap drawer and the abundance of stickers I own. Didn't use my Cricut at all for any of these cards.
The stickers are all from the same set, and I had some great paper to compliment them.
Absolutely love these. Had some great matching paper and they are all color coordinated. It was as if I purchased the paper and stickers at the same time (I am never that organized, btw). The first is a birthday card for someone, and I think I will bundle the others as a gift.
I make very few cards for men, so this one is super simple. The sentiment is created with Scrabble sticker block letters.
This card is for my mom who is a huge bird lover. She lost one of her birds two weeks ago, and her other bird is having some health issues. Both birds were/are over 15 years old, so they are very much part of the family.
Back to work tomorrow, but I am hoping to carve out lots of card-making time over the next couple of weeks as it is National Card and Letter Writing Month!

The Bunny Hop
Wow! I have not posted a card since December, so that means I have not made a card since, you guessed it, December. No wonder I am so stressed. Well, starting to feel better already as I made Easter cards for my beautiful nieces.
I used Create a Critter to create this bunny card. I rarely make shape cards, but I always love them when I do.
Happy Easter!

Furry Baby Christmas
I made this card for the vet's office and the grandparents. It was hard to get the coloring of the furry babies just right, but I still like the way it turned out. Thought it made a great entry for the Cardz TV "Crafty Christmas" challenge.

Purple Monster
This week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut was to include the color purple and a monster. I figured it was a great time to make Halloween cards for my beautiful nieces.
I used the Mini Monsters cartridge for this project. The ribbon was a great find last year at Wal-Mart after Halloween. I am just glad I remembered that I had it.
